At Wind River, we’re passionate about encouraging daily moments of calm , because these moments create ripple effects in our bodies and lives. One powerful way to generate moments of calm is through gratitude.
Giving thanks and being grateful is incredibly simple, yet can have a profound effect on both our minds and our bodies, helping reduce stress and bring a sense of calm.
As we enter into the Thanksgiving and holiday season, try out these 3 creative ways to practice gratitude, and maybe encourage your loved ones to join you as you practice gratitude:
1. Write “Thank You Notes” to people before getting a gift…
It’s already a special thing to receive a handwritten card these days, but why not spend some time thanking the people in your life for who they are to you, rather than waiting until they’ve given you a gift. Not only will this bless the recipient, it will bless you. Life slows down when you stop to write, and focusing on all the reasons why you love someone is good for the soul.
2. Choose a “most grateful for in 2024”...
No matter what kind of year you’ve had, take a moment before the year is over to choose one thing you’re most grateful for from the year. Even in the darkest of times, looking back shows us areas where there was light. Once you’ve chosen that one thing, memorialize it in some way. You could write about it, or share it with a loved one, or create a physical reminder you could look at every day as a reminder of goodness in your life. You could even custom engrave it on a Wind River chime !
3. Be grateful for YOU!
No matter what you’ve been through, you are incredible! As Mr. Rogers said, “You are special.” Reflect on a moment in 2024 where you acted or thought in a way that you’re proud of and can celebrate. Take an extra long moment to breathe in appreciation for the person you’ve been and are becoming.
Also, consider starting and/or ending your day by naming 3 things you are grateful for. Gratitude can help calm the hurry and worry for what has been or what will be. In a season that is leading to winter, inspire the light within with gratitude, and you will inspire so much harmony in your life.
