CREW Learning Center

September 11, 2025

Community health and quality of life are two persistent challenges in rural areas. A brand new non-profit in Mt. Jackson, Virginia is working to address those needs by transforming a historic school building into a community gathering space. CREW (Community Resources for Education and Wellness) is turning the historic Triplett School building into a facility equipped to host health and wellness activities, educational classes and cultural and arts performances.

One cornerstone of the new community center is the Rotary Learning Lab. Sponsored by the Wind River Fund in partnership with four local Rotary clubs in Shenandoah County, the lab will be a state of the art, 24 seat computer lab with laptops and high-speed internet, outfitted to host all kinds of educational experiences.

Patty Baisden, Vice President of Wind River and President of the Strasburg Rotary Club, says that she hopes that the Lab will function as a place for people to have access to high-speed internet, a classroom for technology education and a destination for after-school homework support for children.

The CREW Community Center will host its grand opening in June of 2025, and Baisden sees the Center being used *constantly.* The new CREW Rotary Learning Lab is just one way Wind River is partnering with local organizations to inspire harmony by nurturing community.
